Terms of Service

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to ThinkSlash (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website at thinkslash.com and its calculators, articles, and other content (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

What ThinkSlash Is

ThinkSlash provides free, browser-based calculators for the business of making art — pricing artwork, quoting commissions, setting a freelance rate, costing materials, splitting gallery sales, and working out print-run margins — plus guides and a reference museum. The tools are informational aids for artists, illustrators, and other creative professionals.

Estimates, Not Appraisals

This is the single most important point. The calculators apply common, transparent conventions to the figures you enter. They can tell you what a price needs to be to cover your stated costs and margin; they cannot tell you what a buyer will pay, what a piece is “worth,” or what your taxes will be. Accordingly:

For decisions with real financial or legal consequences, consult a qualified professional. Use your own judgment.

Acceptable Use

In using the Service, you agree not to:

Intellectual Property

The site’s design, calculator code, and original writing belong to ThinkSlash. Museum and learn entries are drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons and remain under their respective public-domain or Creative Commons licences. The output of the tools is yours — your prices, quotes, and business figures are your own to use however you like.

No Warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the tools are error-free, that an estimate fits your specific case, or that the site will always be available.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ThinkSlash will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost income, underpriced work, a print run that doesn’t sell, or other losses — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service or its estimates.

Third-Party Links & Ads

The Service carries advertising and may link to third-party sites and products. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of those third parties, and a link or ad is not an endorsement.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms. Material changes are reflected in the date below.
